Exam Papers : DCE to be upgraded as varsity
The Cabinet on Wednesday unanimously passed the Delhi Technological University Bill, 2009, paving the way for upgrading the status of the existing Delhi College of Engineering (DCE) to that of a deemed university and being renamed the Delhi Technological University (DTU).
The move was taken in accordance with National Knowledge Commission recommendations and is expected to provide a platform for more research and innovation in the DCE.
The Government plans to double the number of seats for the undergraduate courses in the next two years at the institute.
DCE has 85 percent seats for students of Delhi. The increase in seats will mean more options for students of Delhi.
New courses will be offered by DCE from the forthcoming academic session, starting from August, adding 458 new seats — 240 new seats in the B.Tech. programme, 168 new post-graduate seats in the M.Tech. programmes and 50 new Ph.D. and teaching-cum-research fellowships.
