The State Council Of Educational Research And Training, Delhi is an autonomous body of the Government of NCT of Delhi established in 1988. It is a nodal agency recognized by the National Council Of Teacher Education (NCTE) for admission, curriculum construction, course conduct, guidance, examination and certification of the pre-service training programme for elementary school teachers. The two year Diploma for the Elementary Teacher Education (ETE) presently being offered in the nine District Institutes Of Education And Training (DIETs) and ten recognized private institutes of Delhi.

Admission Information for ETE (Elementary Teacher Education) and ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education) Course

SCERT invites the application from the candidates for admission to two year Diploma Course in Elementary Teacher Education (ETE) and two yeat Diploma Course in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) for the session 2008-10 and to be conducted in District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET) and Recognised Private Training Institutions,whose name and addresses are given in the ETE/ECCE prospectus 2008. Nine Govt. DIET and 18 Pvt. Institutes offer ETE Course and 30 Pvt. Institutes offer ECCE Course.

The application forms-cum-prospectus will be available for sale from 24.06.2008 to 07.07.2008 at the following 9 venues.However the same is also placed on SCERT website www.scertdelhi.org from 23.06.2008 (evening) onwards for information only.

Admission to ETE/ECCE Course for all the institution shall be made purely on the basis of merit of qualifying examinationi.e. Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (10+2).

Eligibility:
1. Qualification

(a)Candidate seeking admission to ETE/ECCE must have passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (10+2) CBSE or its equilant examination from any other Board Recognised University.The minimum percentage of marks of 10+2 examination conducted by CBSE,best 5 subjects including,atleast one language shall be taken into consideration.For other board/Universities, Aggeregates of mark in all the subjects in which she/he has to pass for declaring him as “Pass”
shall be considered in accordance with the rules laid down by the concened board. However,those who have passed the qualifying examination with vocational subjects/course are not eligible for admission into ETE/ECCE course.

(b) 5% relaxation of marks is allowed for those candidates who apply under the categories of Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribes or Physically Handicapped.

(c) Candidates are applying for ETE Course and opting for URDU/PUNJABI language teaching must have passed URDU/PUNJABI as one subject both at Secondary and Sr. Secondary Examination.

(d) Candidates whose mark sheets are not available on the last date of submission of application will not be considered for admission.

2.Age Limit: The maximum age should not be more then 24 years as on 30.09.2008. 5 Year relaxation of age is allowed for candidates applying under the categories or Scheduled Tribes or Physically Handicapped. However there is no lower age limit.

3.Reservation Provision: There is provision for reservation of 85% seats for the candidates who are domicile of States other tham NCT of Delhi.A domicile certificate in this regard duly issued by the competent authority where candidate resides is required to be submitted b y the candidate at the time of admission.

4.Availability of Prospectus and application forms: The compelete details regarding name of institutions and availability of seats alongwith details of resrvation of seats in ETE/ECCE Course for various categories have been given in the Prospectus-cum-Application form 2008 which can be obtained by hand only from any one of the above 09 DIETs on cash payment of Rs 200/- from 24.06.08 to 07.07.08 between 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on all days (except Sunday and Gazetted holidays).The application forms can be submitted at any of the above 09 DIET w.e.f. 24.06.08 to 08.07.08 between 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.No application form will be sent and recieved by
post/courier.
