</div> <p>The Union Public Service Commission (<a href="http://www.exampapers.info/tag/upsc">UPSC</a>) has announced the results of the Combined Defence Services Examination (II) 2009 held in September, 2009.</p>
<p>8591 candidates have qualified for being interviewed by the Service Selection Board (SSB) of the Ministry of Defence, for admission to Indian Military Academy (Dehradun 129th Course commencing in July, 2010), Naval Academy (Ezhimala, Kerala Course commencing in July, 2010), Air Force Academy (Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course for 188th F(P) Course commencing in July, 2010), Officers&#8217; Training Academy for Men (Chennai 92nd SSC Course commencing in October, 2010) and Officers&#8217; Training Academy (Chennai, 6th SSC (Women Non-Technical) Course commencing in October, 2010).</p>
<p>The candidature of all the candidates is provisional.</p>
<p>In accordance with the conditions of the admission to the examination, they are required to submit the original certificates in support of age, educational qualification, NCC (C) etc. claimed by them to Army Headquarters in case of IMA/SSC as their first choice and to Naval Headquarters &#8220;DMPR&#8221; (OI &amp; R Section), in case of Naval first choice or to PO3 (A) Air Headquarters in case of Air Force as their first choice.</p>
<p>The original Certificates are to be submitted within two weeks of completion of the SSB Interview and not later than May 13, 2010 (August 1, 2010 in case of SSC only).</p>

Civil Engineering, Commerce, Economics, , Philosophy, Physics, Political Science, Psychology, Public Medical Science. The medium of instruction is either Hindi or English with the duration of each paper being restricted to two hrs.</p>
<p>2: Main Examination: The mains comprises of two optional subjects consisting of two papers each valued at 300 marks and an essay carrying 200 marks with the total marks being 2000.Apart from these two more papers regarding Indian language and General English are set to test the candidates linguistic abilities each carrying 300 marks and these have to be cleared compulsorily. The subjects are: Chemistry, Veterinary Science, Botany, and Accountancy, Economics, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Science, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Commerce Geology, History, Law, Management, Mathematics Sociology, Statistics, Zoology. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry Electrical Engineering, Geography Political Science and International Relations</p>
<p>There is a plethora of subjects to choose from, since students belong to varied streams of education, the subjects on offer include Science subjects that expands over Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology; Humanities subjects that expands over History, Political Science, Public Administration, Geography and Sociology and languages such as Hindi, English, Urdu and Pali. <a href="http://www.exampapers.info/tag/upsc">UPSC</a> also offers subjects such as Anthropology, Psychology and Philosophy. Additionally, the more number of subjects make it more difficult for students to make choices in optionals.</p>
<p>Optional subjects are chosen on the basis of a number of parameters, on one hand there are optionals that are considered to be scoring where as there are others that are favored for their relevance to either General Studies papers or Current Affairs and essay questions whereas there are many who choose subjects for their defined set of topics asked and comparatively short type answers. Students feel that this bit of planning makes their choice of subject a success as there are combinations that have common IAS syllabus which reduces their workloads and improves their chances of scoring in civil services examination.
